December 31, 2025: I now have a guestbook. Sign it!

December 30, 2025: I have updated this entire website, changing all my CSS to make it look better between last night and tonight. I have also finished bringing in the Hermit Rites archive, meaning all of the first fifteen regular posts from the Hermit Rites Substack are now here.

December 29, 2025: Shapes in the Dark is out, and has been for eleven days. Thank you so much to all who have checked it out.

September 30, 2025: Test copies of Shapes in the Dark are gorgeous. It will be officially released on December 18, 2025.

September 15, 2025: Drabble collection is done.

August 7, 2025: Currently writing a possible novella and editing a drabble collection.

July 1, 2025: Dustin is currently writing.

About Dustin

Dustin Ekman is a writer from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
This is not exactly his fault, but he did choose to move there from a small town that was even worse than Edmonton.
Dustin is a former record label owner, music critic, and metal promoter
(founder of Funeral Rain Records, Crown of Viserys, and Black Mourning Light Metal Festival).

He has been named Death Wish Poetry's Deranged Prince of Darkness and has had his work likened to Percy Shelley and Robert Frost.

Before the Crown of Viserys website came down, Dustin had published several hundred music reviews and tens of interviews. This is part of the basis of the creation of Hermit Rites, to follow in the footsteps of Crown of Viserys, but also to be the home for Dustin's fiction and poetry as well.

He lives with his editor-in-chief Oscar, a raging addiction to caffeine, various works in progress, and an increasingly shaky mental stability.
